The George Wiley Center is an organizing group committed to utility justice in Rhode Island.
Find out how to make important policy changes through community organizing. Share your talents and learn organizing skills that will increase your ability to get people involved in issues that you care about. Learn how to organize using a unique collective casework approach and a combination of grassroots lobbying and direct action. The organizing skills obtained over the course of an internship are relevant to a variety of fields of study and can be utilized in the future to make change around your concerns. Volunteers and interns gain experience with various organizing techniques that are useful for a lifetime.
Specific tasks could include: Planning and conducting community outreach, meetings, hearings, lobbying, direct actions, data entry, interviews, videos, newsletters and blogs, social media development, policy and issue research, archival research.
