Brown K12 Online Tutoring Site Leader

Position/Project Overview: The COVID-19 global crisis has more-than-ever, brought educational inequities to the forefront of education-related decisions being made by districts across the country. Brown University is in a unique position by which to provide educational interventions to improve children’s academic, social and even economic outcomes, via online tutoring, a resource that historically, has only been only available to students whose families can pay-to-learn.

Tutor Site Leaders (TSLs) will be responsible for 3 main areas:
  1. Volunteer Management: holding tutors accountable to our tutoring philosophy and expectations for engagement with student learners and the community at-large. Expectations include those for behavioral etiquette, awareness and respect for cultural diversity and learning styles.
  2. Communication: Maintain frequent and transparent communication between tutors, school site teachers and admin and the Brown K12 online tutoring program administrators.
  3. Recruitment of student membership into the student group (FLIP, SAT,STEMS); representing Brown K12 Online Tutoring at fairs (awareness of dates, participation); Create flyers, posters, announcements; promote/share successes via student groups, events, social media (links, pics (no student learners); and recruiting members as tutors into the Brown platform
